When framing photographs we alway sit them behind glass or perspex to protect them from dust, humidity and distroying little insects. We always insure the glass is lifted slightly away from the print to prevent sticking in the future. That's where mat boards play an important role in not only looking fab and creating visual space around the image but also allow breathing space between the glass and photograph.
